Every day, millions of people around the world wake up and fight a battle against Parkinson’s disease — a progressive, degenerative neurological disorder that robs people of their mobility, independence, and quality of life. There is no known cure. Yet.
But there is hope. That hope lies in the groundbreaking research and tireless advocacy of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research — the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research. Their mission is clear: to find a cure for Parkinson’s and to ensure better treatments for those living with the disease today.
My name is Marley. I am a student at Laurel School. For my Capstone project, I am creating a Laurel Cookbook to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease. My Capstone project consists of publishing a cookbook featuring recipes submitted by you, the Laurel Community. I invite members of the Laurel community, including students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff, to submit their favorite family recipes for publication.
While this cookbook is not actually published by the Laurel School (it is published independently by a Laurel School student), it is supported by the efforts of many people in the Laurel School community without which this worthwhile project would not have been possible, I thank Laurel School for all their help and support.
I watched my grandfather suffer from Parkinson’s Disease. Therefore, this cause is personal to me. Whether you’ve been touched by Parkinson’s in your own life, or simply believe in the power of science and compassion to change lives, I’m asking for your help.

All of the profits from my cookbook will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to fund research to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by sharing your recipes for my cookbook or by donating directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation from my fundraising page.

We plan to feature not only the most cherished family recipes of our Laurel community members, but also the stories behind the recipes.
We want to know where your recipe came from? Was it passed down through the generations? What memories does this recipe hold for you and your family? Does it remind you of your childhood? Was it served at family holidays and gatherings?
We also want photos to feature alongside your recipe, including photos of the food being prepared, photos of your family enjoying the food, and/or photos of the people in your family who passed this special family recipe down to you. In other words, we want you to share what makes this recipe so special to you and your family.
Although we wish we could publish each and every family recipe submitted, unfortunately we will only have space to feature selected recipes in the book. However, if we recieve enough recipes, we may publish a second cookbook in the future, or feature additional recipes on our website. In any case, we appreciate each and every recipe submitted and we thank you for your support.
